Job summary

ACCEL Schools is seeking a licensed School Psychologist for a statewide virtual program serving K–12 students in Georgia. The role includes conducting comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations, administering tele-assessments, and collaborating with educators and families.

Some in-person travel for testing and events is required. Qualified candidates will hold an active Georgia Psychologist License, have experience in school or special education settings, and be adept with online documentation

Responsibilities

  • Conduct virtual psychoeducational evaluations for K–12 students.
  • Maintain records of special education services, IEPs, evaluations, and compliance.
  • Complete initial evaluations and re-evaluations.
  • Conduct virtual administration of cognitive and achievement assessments.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators on eligibility decisions.
  • Prepare evaluation reports and present findings to teams.
  • Stay current on regulations and best practices.
  • Support MTSS and PBIS planning and implementation.
  • Provide professional development and coaching to staff.
  • Keep thorough documentation for compliance requirements.

About the Team

The Virtual Preparatory Academy of Georgia is a statewide tuition‑free online program serving grades K‑12. Our online program curriculum offers rich and engaging content carefully designed to meet the standards required by the state of Georgia. At Virtual Preparatory Academy of Georgia, students are engaged in academics, participating in various activities and assessments appropriate to the courses being studied, including labs, journals, written assignments, discussions, group and individual projects, formative assessments, objective tests, and written exams.

Virtual School Psychologist Role

The Licensed School Psychologist conducts comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations; consults with school personnel and parents regarding planning, implementing and evaluating individual and group interventions; and functions as a member of the building‑based student support team in providing services to students. This is a virtual position, but some in‑person work will be required throughout the year.

Please note – while this is an online school position and all instruction occurs virtually, travel and face‑to‑face attendance will be required several times per year to support in‑person state testing and student events.

About the Opportunity
  • Conduct virtual psychoeducational evaluations for students K through 12 according to federal, state, and school guidelines
  • Maintain accurate records of special education services, IEPs, evaluations, and compliance documentation
  • Complete initial evaluations and re‑evaluations
  • Provide virtual administration of cognitive and achievement assessments following best practice tele‑assessment standards
  • Conduct other portions of the evaluation, including interviews and virtual observations, adaptive behaviour, social/emotional behaviour, and executive functioning assessments
  • Integrate assessment results into a comprehensive evaluation report and submit paperwork as needed
  • Present evaluation findings at team meetings and collaborate with school teams regarding eligibility determination
  • Maintain knowledge of principles and evidence‑based practices
  • Attend relevant training offered by county agencies and the Department of Education to stay current on regulations and best practices
  • Collaborate on intervention planning, MTSS, and Positive Behavioural Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
  • Consult with teachers, parents, and administrators to address learning and behavioural needs
  • Support and coach staff through professional development and team meetings
  • Keep thorough records and help maintain compliance with all required reports
  • Contribute to policies and procedures
  • Additional duties as assigned
About You
  • Experience in school or special education settings preferred
  • Active Georgia Psychologist License
  • Proficiency with computers and online documentation skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly and exhibit sound judgment while maintaining that confidentiality
  • Have familiarity with a variety of evaluation tools
  • Demonstrates a reliable, dependable, and trustworthy work ethic
  • Ability to manage difficult or emotional client situations
  • Ability to make sound judgments after all available information has been gathered or communicated
  • Demonstrates a mature attitude and insight into matters affecting department, self and / or company welfare
  • Demonstrated leadership and management ability
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure, effectively prioritize and execute tasks to meet deadlines consistently
