Job summary

University Hospitals Pain Management is seeking a Patient Safety Observer to continuously monitor assigned patients, document observations in the EHR, and communicate with the bedside care team in real time. This role emphasizes strong technical skills, exceptional customer service, and teamwork to uphold hospital protocols, protect PHI, and support safe, coordinated care across disciplines.

• Supports safe, efficient, coordinated care through accurate communication.

Responsibilities

• Maintains continuous observation of multiple patients.
• Navigate EHR workflows to support safe, efficient, and coordinated care, documenting observations and notes.
• Communicates with nurse about changes in patient behavior or condition.
• Demonstrates clear communication and collaboration to optimize patient care.
• Deliver exceptional customer service while facilitating communication across disciplines.
• Work with System Operations Center staff in a team-oriented, collaborative approach.
• Promote a Best Place to Work culture and positive professional environment.
• Participates in performance/quality improvement initiatives.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
