Job summary

ACCEL Schools' Virtual Preparatory Academy of Florida is seeking an Academic Mentor to provide high-dosage tutoring to middle school students in a virtual setting. You will reinforce literacy, mathematics, science, and Civics using data-driven strategies and targeted supports.

You will build positive, supportive relationships, monitor attendance and progress, and communicate student needs with teachers and school leadership.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Teaching degree or certification is not required.
• Experience with middle school students preferred.
• Experience in tutoring, mentoring, youth programs, education, or a similar setting preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent, high-dosage tutoring to middle school students in small groups.
• Deliver targeted support in literacy, mathematics, science, and Civics based on student needs and data.
• Use provided instructional materials and strategies to reinforce classroom learning and address identified skill gaps.
• Build positive, supportive relationships that promote student engagement, confidence, and academic ownership.
• Monitor and document student attendance, participation, and progress, and communicate student progress and concerns with teachers and school leadership.
