The Virtual Preparatory Academy of Florida, part of the ACCEL Schools network, seeks an Academic Mentor to provide high-dosage tutoring to elementary students in small groups across a statewide online program.

This online role requires strong communication, technology savvy, and the ability to monitor progress, with occasional travel for state testing and student events. A teaching degree is not required; Florida residents only. Training and ongoing professional development are provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; teaching degree not required.
• Experience with elementary-aged children preferred.
• Experience in tutoring, mentoring, childcare, education, or similar setting preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable using technology and virtual learning platforms.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent, high-dosage tutoring to elementary students in small groups.
• Deliver targeted support in foundational literacy and mathematics based on student needs and data.
• Use provided instructional materials and strategies to reinforce classroom learning.
• Build positive, supportive relationships that promote student engagement and confidence.
• Monitor and document student attendance, participation, and academic progress.
• Communicate student progress and concerns with teachers and school leadership.
• Participate in training and follow school procedures for student safety, confidentiality, and professionalism.
