Job Description
The Associate Therapist works in a dynamic multidisciplinary team providing treatment services according to the Discovery Clinical Model. Responsibilities include ensuring patient safety, providing milieu interventions, leading psychoeducational and process-oriented therapy groups, facilitating clinical assessments, conducting therapy sessions, and other case management tasks as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Ensure clinical documentation is completed timely throughout treatment and meets clinical quality standards outlined in policies.
- Complete and respond to documentation requirements and timelines to ensure compliance with the Medical Record Review Policy.
- Complete documentation at the time of service.
- Establish therapeutic rapport with patients and families/loved ones.
- Facilitate admission assessments and the admission process for new patients professionally and courteously.
- Understand role in providing expeditious access to care.
- Participate in weekly treatment team meetings and communicate treatment goals.
- Maintain a caseload of 5-6 patients in RTC and 10-15 in OP level of care.
- Complete the assigned number of therapy sessions weekly, including family/support system sessions.
- Facilitate process-oriented and psychoeducation groups daily in RTC and 2-4 times daily in OP.
- Attend at least one meal or snack session per week.
- Facilitate multi-family groups, family programs, and/or family weekends.
- Provide utilization reviews to insurance companies for authorizations.
- Be accessible to family members or loved ones, returning calls/emails within specified timeframes.
- Assess patients for suicidality and danger to self or others.
- Provide clinical support to team members as needed.
- Communicate with the Utilization Review and Business Departments regarding authorizations and payments.
- Begin discharge planning on the day of admission.
- Complete discharge sessions and ensure understanding of coping skills and transition plans.
- Confirm discharge appointments with patients and loved ones.
- Communicate with referral sources and outpatient providers for continuity of care.
- Facilitate patient transfers to higher care levels as needed.
- Participate in outreach and program tours as needed.
- Manage crises effectively in sessions and the milieu.
- Support milieu staff in interactions with patients and families.
- Collaborate with the treatment team to ensure high clinical quality.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
- RTC Only: Provide on-call support once per month, return calls within 20 minutes during on-call, and communicate issues appropriately.
