Job Description

The Associate Therapist works in a dynamic multidisciplinary team providing treatment services according to the Discovery Clinical Model. Responsibilities include ensuring patient safety, providing milieu interventions, leading psychoeducational and process-oriented therapy groups, facilitating clinical assessments, conducting therapy sessions, and other case management tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

1. Ensure clinical documentation is completed timely throughout treatment and meets clinical quality standards outlined in policies.
2. Complete and respond to documentation requirements and timelines to ensure compliance with the Medical Record Review Policy.
3. Complete documentation at the time of service.
4. Establish therapeutic rapport with patients and families/loved ones.
5. Facilitate admission assessments and the admission process for new patients professionally and courteously.
6. Understand role in providing expeditious access to care.
7. Participate in weekly treatment team meetings and communicate treatment goals.
8. Maintain a caseload of 5-6 patients in RTC and 10-15 in OP level of care.
9. Complete the assigned number of therapy sessions weekly, including family/support system sessions.
10. Facilitate process-oriented and psychoeducation groups daily in RTC and 2-4 times daily in OP.
11. Attend at least one meal or snack session per week.
12. Facilitate multi-family groups, family programs, and/or family weekends.
13. Provide utilization reviews to insurance companies for authorizations.
14. Be accessible to family members or loved ones, returning calls/emails within specified timeframes.
15. Assess patients for suicidality and danger to self or others.
16. Provide clinical support to team members as needed.
17. Communicate with the Utilization Review and Business Departments regarding authorizations and payments.
18. Begin discharge planning on the day of admission.
19. Complete discharge sessions and ensure understanding of coping skills and transition plans.
20. Confirm discharge appointments with patients and loved ones.
21. Communicate with referral sources and outpatient providers for continuity of care.
22. Facilitate patient transfers to higher care levels as needed.
23. Participate in outreach and program tours as needed.
24. Manage crises effectively in sessions and the milieu.
25. Support milieu staff in interactions with patients and families.
26. Collaborate with the treatment team to ensure high clinical quality.
27. Perform other tasks as assigned.
28. RTC Only: Provide on-call support once per month, return calls within 20 minutes during on-call, and communicate issues appropriately.
