Job summary

Whiting-Turner Contracting Company seeks a self-motivated VDC professional to join our internal team, leveraging BIM-centric design, construction knowledge, and innovative technology.

You will create virtual simulations, coordinate 3D models from kickoff to closeout, perform preconstruction model tasks, and drive research into new software and hardware to improve project quality across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in Architectural/Engineering/Construction Management fields or related.
• Associate degree in a VDC/BIM concentration with 0–5 years of experience.
• Solid BIM software, hardware, and technology knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Create virtual simulations to validate and improve site logistics, safety, sequencing, scheduling and VR experiences.
• Coordinate 3D models with operation teams from kickoff through closeout.
• Perform preconstruction model tasks – quality verifications, schedule validations, constructability reviews, and virtual mock-ups.

Job description

Whiting-Turner is looking for a self-motivated, energetic, creative, technology-driven, detail-oriented, quick-thinking, innovative person to join our internal Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) team. Job Responsibilities include:

Typical Daily tasks include:

1. Creating virtual simulations to validate and improve site logistics, safety concerns, building sequencing, scheduling, and VR experiences.
2. Manage 3D coordination activities with operation teams from project kickoff through closeout.
3. Perform preconstruction model tasks – quality verifications, schedule validations, constructability reviews, and virtual mock-up production.
4. Drive research and development of new software, hardware, and technology to optimize the team’s execution and overall project quality.

Skill Set:

Other required skills:

1. Able to read drawings and understand specifications, building codes, and other technical data.
2. Familiar with MEPF system design.
3. Have excellent written and oral communication.
4. Ability to work well with cross-discipline teams.
5. Data analytics, visual programming, and VR/AR experience.

Education/Experience

1. Bachelor's degree with preference given to Architectural, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management related degrees or
2. Associate degree in a VDC/BIM technical concentration with 0-5 years of experience.
3. BIM software, hardware, and technology knowledge.
