Job summary

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company seeks a self-motivated VDC/BIM professional to join our internal team in Charlotte. You will create virtual simulations and manage 3D coordination with operations from kickoff through project closeout to improve safety, scheduling, and constructability.

Ideal candidates have BIM experience with SketchUp, Revit, Navisworks, CAD, and rendering tools, plus a relevant degree and 3–5 years of experience.

Qualifications

• Reading drawings and specs; building codes and data interpretation.
• Experience with BIM software, hardware, and technology.
• Ability to collaborate across disciplines and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Create virtual simulations to analyze site logistics, safety, sequencing, and VR experiences.
• Coordinate 3D models with operations teams from kickoff to closeout.
• Perform preconstruction tasks: quality verifications, schedule checks, constructability reviews, and virtual mockups.
• Develop and evaluate new software, hardware, and tech to improve project delivery.

Typical Daily tasks include:

1. Creating virtual simulations to validate and improve site logistics, safety concerns, building sequencing, scheduling, and VR experiences.
2. Manage 3D coordination activities with operation teams from project kickoff through closeout.
3. Perform preconstruction model tasks - quality verifications, schedule validations, constructability reviews, and virtual mock-up production.
4. Drive research and development of new software, hardware, and technology to optimize the team's execution and overall project quality.

1. Bachelors degree with preference given to Architectural, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management related degrees or Associate degree in a VDC/BIM technical concentration with 3-5 years of experience.
2. BIM software, hardware, and technology knowledge.
