Job summary

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Animal Industry, seeks a Biological Scientist II to perform virology analyses, including ELISA, qPCR, and virus neutralization, in the Rabies Laboratory. The role requires maintaining QA/QC records and preparing materials for electron microscopy.

The incumbent will operate electron microscopy equipment, manage reagents, and coordinate case reports in the LIMS system, with occasional travel and adherence to safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biological, physical, natural, or agricultural sciences with 1 year of related experience; or Master’s degree as described.

Responsibilities

• Perform virology tests including virus neutralization, FA tests, Rabies-FA, ELISA and qPCR.
• Prepare materials for electron microscopy and operate the electron microscope.
• Maintain QA/QC records and ensure compliance with AAVLD standards.
• Coordinate case reports in LIMS and ensure timely report generation.
