Job summary

Labcorp in Burlington, NC is seeking a Technologist Trainee to join our Virology team. This entry-level role offers hands-on training with a schedule of Friday–Monday, 8:00am–6:30pm, and opportunities to develop core competencies in specimen handling and testing.

You will perform routine and complex procedures, monitor instrumentation, troubleshoot issues, and learn to report results accurately to support quality patient care. New grads welcome with full training provided.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology is required.

Responsibilities

Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental SOPs.
Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
Maintain a safe work environment and wear PPE.
