Job summary

The State of Tennessee is seeking a Laboratory Manager in Nashville for the Division of Laboratory Services. This role oversees the Virology section, ensuring testing of vaccine-preventable diseases and respiratory pathogens, while managing staff, budgets, and quality systems.

Requires a Bachelor's in a related field and 4+ years lab experience with 2+ years supervisory, plus licensure eligibility within 12 months.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Laboratory Sciences or related field from an accredited college or university.
Four years of full-time laboratory experience in a related field with at least two years in supervision.
Must have or be eligible for TN Medical Laboratory Supervisor/Director license within 12 months of hire.
Graduate coursework may substitute for up to two years of experience; transcript required.

Responsibilities

Provide technical, operational, and administrative oversight of the Virology Section.
Develop, implement, and monitor policies, procedures, and performance indicators to meet standards.
Define and monitor quality control standards ensuring compliance with CLIA, ISO 17025, and regulations.
Assist with budget, contracts, procurement, and grant writing to secure funding.
Ensure staff are trained and competent; provide workforce development opportunities.
Maintain knowledge of infectious diseases and public health lab practices to guide testing activities.
