Job summary

The Tennessee Department of Health is seeking a PH Laboratory Manager 2 in Nashville. You will assist with technical, operational, and administrative activities in the Division of Laboratory Services, supervising laboratory scientists and technicians and overseeing daily testing and quality control.

Responsibilities include ensuring staff competency, coordinating resource management, and contributing to policy implementation while maintaining regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Laboratory Sciences or related field; 3 years lab experience; 2 years supervisory/managerial experience.
Alternative: 4-year MLS program with 3 years lab experience and 2 years supervisory/managerial experience.
Substitution allowed: graduate coursework substitute for up to 2 years experience; transcripts required.

Responsibilities

Perform routine lab work of considerable difficulty related to dPCR.
Supervise technical personnel and provide staff development; ensure competency across testing workflows.
Assist management in policies, procedures, and performance/quality indicators; ensure controlled documentation.
Monitor daily workflows; manage reagents, inventory, equipment maintenance, and labs space.
