Job summary

VHB seeks a Virginia Highway Lead to guide major roadway and interstate improvement programs across Richmond, Williamsburg, Virginia Beach, Tysons Corner, and the DC metro region. In this leadership role you’ll mentor engineers, drive design and delivery, and foster client relationships with VDOT and private-sector teams.

The position emphasizes strategic growth, Design-Build delivery, and cross‑disciplinary collaboration, with a focus on safety, resilience, and community impact.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering required; MS preferred.
• Virginia PE license required.
• Proven leadership and client relationship management skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Project Manager and Technical Lead on VDOT projects across Virginia.
• Support Design-Build pursuits and coordinate with contractor partners.
• Lead and grow VDOT contracts and strategic pursuits incl. I-81 corridor.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
• Provide technical leadership in highway design and VDOT standards.
• Collaborate with VDOT, municipalities, contractors, and clients.
• Support business development and pursuit strategy.
• Contribute to expansion of transportation practice in target markets.
• Oversee budgets, schedules, and client communications.
