Job summary

Florida State University seeks a Molecular Research Technician to support the Viral Vector & Gene Editing Core facility in Tallahassee. The role involves hands-on molecular cloning, vector design, and genome editing service delivery within a collaborative environment.

The technician will work under the Director to ensure quality control, accurate documentation, and efficient workflows while contributing to research projects involving CRISPR/Cas9-based approaches in neurodegenerative models.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a life science such as molecular biology, biotechnology, or biochemistry.
• At least two years of hands-on experience with standard molecular biology techniques.
• Proficiency in cloning techniques and maintaining meticulous records.

Responsibilities

• Perform molecular cloning and DNA manipulation (restriction digestion, ligation, PCR-based cloning, Gibson Assembly, Golden Gate, site-directed mutagenesis).
• Assist design and production of viral vectors (AAVs, lentiviral vectors).
• Maintain accurate lab records, inventories, and databases for constructs, reagents, and viral stocks.
