Job summary

North Carolina State University is seeking a researcher to advance our work on plant-virus-vector interactions and crop improvement. The role focuses on optimizing virus delivery in maize using MMV vectors and requires skills in molecular biology and genome editing.

Qualifications

  • Generate infectious clones of plant viruses and/or produce gene expression constructs.
  • Knowledge of genome editing approaches for crop improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience with experimental design, statistical analysis, molecular biology, handling plant viruses/pathogens and/or insect viruses.
  • Molecular biology skills: primer design, DNA/RNA handling, protein expression, Western blotting, qRT-PCR.

Responsibilities

  • Develop weekly research reports for the PI and monthly reports to the funding agency.
  • Contribute to proposal writing and disseminate research findings to the broader community.
  • Maintain virus and insect colonies.
  • Train and mentor other lab members.
  • Optimize carrying capacity of the virus and construct full-length infectious clones of viruses and mutagenesis of regulatory regions.
  • Generate infectious clones of plant viruses and/or gene expression experience; apply genome editing approaches for crop improvement.
