Job summary

The University of the District of Columbia seeks a versatile violin instructor to teach assigned undergraduate courses in Violin performance. The selected candidate will be expected to deliver quality instruction, maintain up-to-date teaching methods, and communicate effectively with students via the institution's LMS.

This temporary, part-time position requires a graduate degree in music education or violin performance and demonstrated college-level violin instruction experience.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in music education or violin performance.
  • Evidence of successful violin instruction at the college level.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in Violin performance.
  • Maintain current knowledge of instructional methods relevant to the course.
  • Provide students with a syllabus including objectives, outcomes, and assessment criteria.
  • Post syllabus and materials in the learning management system and communicate with students.
  • Maintain enrollment and grade records and submit rosters and grade sheets by deadlines.
  • Attend meetings and official functions as required by senior leadership.
  • Attend orientation sessions to understand the institution's mission and teaching philosophy.
  • Meet with the Dean or Department Chair to discuss course progress and curriculum development.
  • Adhere to University policies on academics and conduct.
