Job summary

North Slope Borough Fire Department seeks a skilled firefighter/EMS professional to respond to emergencies, perform firefighting, rescue, and emergency medical duties, and oversee EMS operations with supervision of volunteers and training. The role includes serving as incident commander in the Chief's absence and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and QA processes.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, Alaska driver license, BLS, EMT, and ARFF certification or equivalent, with ICS

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED (or equivalent)
• Alaska Driver's License meeting insurance criteria
• AHA Basic Life Support Provider or Alaska EMS equivalent
• Emergency Trauma Technician certification
• Alaska Rural Firefighter Operations certification or equivalent
• ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 training

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergencies and perform firefighting, rescue, and EMS duties.
• Operate, inspect and maintain firefighting and medical equipment.
• Coordinate refilling of breathing air and medical oxygen cylinders.
• Oversee EMS operations and supervise volunteers and training.
• Act as incident commander in absence of Village Fire Chief.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and QA of patient care and incident reports.
