Job summary

Allied Community Care in Riverdale, MD is seeking a Direct Support Professional who speaks Vietnamese fluently to provide one-on-one care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in home and community settings. This is a part-time position with a flexible schedule, including Thursdays and Fridays 8am-1pm, offering meaningful daily support and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to successfully pass a background check.
• Reliable transportation to travel to client homes and community activities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility and the ability to adapt to diverse needs and preferences.
• Willingness to assist with personal care and follow detailed support plans.
• Speak Vietnamese fluently and is familiar with Vietnamese culture and traditions.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and support to individuals in their homes and in the community.
• Assist with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, light household tasks, and basic academic or skill-building support.
• Encourage social engagement and community integration by supporting clients in activities such as shopping, going to the park, attending events, or participating in hobbies.
• Follow and implement individualized support plans and goals tailored to each person’s needs.
• Maintain accurate documentation of daily activities, progress notes, and any incidents, including seizures or other health-related events.
