Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS), is actively seeking individuals who can contribute to national security within the project management and business services fields as part of our staff augmentation team supporting the Department of Energy (DOE) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance the missions of the ORNL in Oak Ridge, TN. Though employed by AIS, the employee will take day-to-day direction from technical personnel employed directly by the research laboratory. Pay, benefits, Human resource, and employment management functions are provided by AIS.

Qualified applicants must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the DOE.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a Video Editor & Post-Production Specialist to lead the creation of high-quality video content that communicates complex ideas with clarity, creativity, and precision. This role requires a seasoned visual storyteller with strong technical acumen in editing, color grading, motion graphics, and sound design. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, balances artistic vision with stakeholder needs, and ensures a polished final product every time.

  • Edit and assemble raw footage into compelling visual narratives aligned with branding, messaging, and communication goals.
  • Perform advanced color grading and video enhancement to ensure consistency and visual appeal across projects.
  • Design and integrate motion graphics, lower thirds, and animated assets as needed to elevate production value.
  • Collaborate with producers, creatives, and internal clients to understand video objectives and develop effective visual solutions.
  • Manage multiple video projects concurrently from concept to final delivery, ensuring on-time and on-brand execution.
  • Maintain organized file structures, media libraries, and project archives for efficient workflow.
  • Stay current with industry trends, tools, and techniques to continuously improve production quality.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience as a Video Editor or Post-Production Specialist in a corporate, agency, or government environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in film production, Digital Media, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Expertise in industry-standard software, including Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Media Encoder, DaVinci Resolve, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of video production workflows, including editing, color correction, sound mixing, motion graphics, and final output formats.
  • Proven ability to craft a story visually, with a strong sense of timing, pacing, transitions, and narrative structure.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to interpret feedback and work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail and quality control with the ability to meet tight deadlines across multiple projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting DOE, DOD, or other federal agencies.
  • Familiarity with 3D graphics software (e.g., Blender or Cinema 4D) is a bonus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a creative team in a hybrid or remote environment.

Special Requirements

  • Pre-employment Drug Screen - External applicants selected for this position are required to successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.
  • Medical Exam(s) - Job related pre-placement medical examinations may be required for this position.
  • This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. If determined as such, this position would be identified as a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require participation in an ongoing random drug testing program in addition to the pre-employment drug screen.
