Job summary

Subject is seeking a Video Producer / Editor in Los Angeles to shoot on set and cut footage in the edit bay the same day. You’ll own camera, lighting, and audio during shoots and ship finished pieces quickly.

You’ll work with a fast-paced team, handle multi-camera podcasts and talking-head formats, integrate AI-generated content with live footage, and maintain gear readiness to keep shoots moving.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of professional video production and editing experience.
• Availability to edit 5 days a week in-studio 8am–6pm.
• Hands-on mastery of camera, lighting, and audio on set.
• Proficiency in Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve with fast, clean edits.
• Experience with ATEM or live-switching for multi-camera shoots.
• Strong sense of pacing and educational content.
• Ability to collaborate with AI production elements.

Responsibilities

Hours: Monday - Friday | 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM

About the Role

We shoot cinematic courses, original shows, and podcast-style content at a pace most studios would consider unreasonable. We think it's fun. Subject is building the most ambitious educational video catalog in the world.

We're hiring a Video Producer / Editor who can live in both worlds: On set running camera, lighting, and audio in the morning, then in the edit bay cutting that same footage before the day is over. This is not a role where footage sits on a drive for a week. You shoot it, you cut it, it ships. You'll be our live-editing operator on set. We produce podcasts and multi-camera talking-head content cut live.

What You'll Do

• Partner with the Head of Production, the Executive Producer and production crew to produce, prep and build sets, own camera, lighting, and audio.
• Live-cut multi-camera podcasts and talking-head shoots on an ATEM.
• Own gear: maintain, troubleshoot, and set up our camera, lighting, and audio packages so shoots start on time and nothing dies mid-take.
• Work with the on-set DIT to manage media from card to delivery.
• Work directly with on-camera talent, keeping shoots moving and performers comfortable.
• Collaborate with our AI production team, whose generated content often gets woven into edits alongside live footage.
• Jump between projects and formats without losing quality or losing your mind.

What We're Looking For

• 3 to 5 years of professional experience in video production and editing.
• 5 Days a week editing in our studio 8am-6pm.
• Startup or fast-paced studio experience. You've worked somewhere turbulent, where priorities shift daily and the answer to "can we do this by Friday?" is figuring out how.
• Deep hands-on knowledge of camera, lighting, and audio equipment. You can walk onto a set and diagnose a problem by ear or by eye.
• ATEM or similar live-switching experience cutting podcasts or multi-cam shows.
• Fast, confident editing in Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve. Speed without sloppiness.
• Strong instincts for pacing, story, and what makes educational content watchable instead of medicine.
• Self-directed. You see what needs doing and do it.
• High-level of understanding After Effects and Motion Graphics.

Nice to Have

• Motion graphics chops
• Color grading experience
• Audio mixing and cleanup skills
• Experience directing non-professional or first-time on-camera talent including children.
• Experience producing educational courses or videos.
