The Manhattan Institute for Policy Research (MI) is a community of scholars, journalists, and civic leaders united by a shared commitment to advancing economic opportunity, individual liberty, and the rule of law in America and its great cities.
MI is seeking a fast, creative, and technically accomplished Video and Podcast Producer to lead the behind-the-scenes production of original video and podcast content. This person will help translate MI’s policy research and commentary into polished, engaging programming built to reach large digital audiences.
The producer will oversee the full production process—from developing concepts and preparing shoots to recording, editing, packaging, and distributing finished content. The role requires both technical fluency and strong editorial instincts: an understanding of what makes digital content visually compelling, emotionally resonant, and likely to break through online.
The producer will also support MI’s podcast programming, managing the detailed work required to produce consistently excellent shows. This includes coordinating guests, preparing recordings, operating production equipment, editing full episodes, and identifying and packaging the strongest moments for social distribution.
This is primarily a behind-the-scenes role for someone who takes pride in making on-camera talent look and sound their best. The ideal candidate will have excellent editorial judgment, visual instincts, and attention to detail; the ability to work quickly without sacrificing quality; strong organizational and project-management skills; comfort collaborating with on-camera personalities and senior policy experts; familiarity with the work of City Journal and the Manhattan Institute; and enthusiasm for MI’s mission.

MI staff also benefit from the opportunity to collaborate and socialize with prominent scholars working on some of the country’s most important policy questions.
