Job summary

GameStop is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support the Store Manager across store operations and sales. You will lead a team, drive guest service excellence, and promote our programs while ensuring a clean, organized shopping environment.

The role includes training staff, scheduling, payroll oversight, and upholding company policies. The ideal candidate has retail management experience, strong communication skills, and a passion for gaming.

Qualifications

• Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business/marketing/merchandising or related field preferred.
• At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
• At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
• Video game knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests, answer questions, promote sales, and thank guests.
• Support the store environment, visual/operational elements, promotions, and guest relationships.
• Process guest purchases/returns using the POS system accurately.
• Respond to guest questions in person or by phone; escalate issues appropriately.
• Promote GameStop guest benefits (reservations, trade‑in, Pro Rewards).
• Assist Store Manager with training, policies, and procedures.
• Observe performance and provide timely feedback in partnership with Store Manager; document in HR system.
• Ensure onboarding/training/compliance before opening/closing shifts; knowledge of policies, inventory, loss prevention.
• Schedule staff ensuring breaks and meals; maintain optimal guest service.
• Approve payroll/time off and verify pay accuracy.
• Keep store areas clean, organized, and merchandised per guidelines.
• Fulfill Omni‑Channel orders daily.
• Protect assets with inventory control and loss prevention; address concerns with Store Manager.
• Maintain store records and ensure proper shelving and labeling.
• Supervise/Delegate tasks in absence of Store Manager.
• Adhere to all policies and codes of conduct; equal opportunity employer.
