Job description

PLEASE NOTE: This role requires 5 days onsite in Playa Vista, CA ( with some flexibility)

As a Video Editor, you will be a core creative contributor within the Studio's Post Production team – cutting long-form, commercial, digital, and social content across a diverse slate of campaigns and brandedcontent productions. Reporting to the Sr Manager, Post Production, you will work closely with the Post Production Supervisor, creative directors, art directors, and producers to shape raw footage into finished content that drives engagement and elevates the creative output across every channel and platform the brand lives on.

The ideal candidate is a skilled, versatile editor with a strong creative sensibility and deep technical fluency – equally at home cutting a 30-second broadcast spot, a multi-platform social campaign, or a longer-format branded content piece. You have a genuine feel for pacing, story, and performance, the organizational discipline to manage complex multi-deliverable projects without dropping anything, and an entrepreneurial mindset that looks for smarter ways to work at every turn. You are a collaborative team player who makes the room better, communicates proactively, and takes real pride in the craft of what you put out.

Key Outcomes:
Creative Editing & Storytelling

Edit commercial, digital, social, and branded content across all formats – from broadcast :30s and :15s to long‑form branded content, social‑first cuts, and platform‑native adaptations – delivering compelling, polished edits that serve the creative brief and perform on each platform.

Translate creative briefs into editorial approaches – contributing your own ideas for structure, pacing, music, and visual rhythm while remaining responsive to creative direction and open to feedback throughout the revision process.

Develop and manage multi-deliverable versioning packages – cutting and adapting approved masters into all required lengths, aspect ratios, and platform‑specific formats [broadcast, digital, TikTok, Reels, YouTube, OOH] – with precision and consistency across every version.

Bring a genuine point of view to the edit room – making active creative contributions to pacing, music selection, performance choices, and narrative structure – while maintaining the judgement to know when to serve the creative brief and when to push it forward.

Stay current on platform trends, content formats, and the evolving visual language of social media – bringing that awareness into your editorial choices and contributing to a creative culture that keeps output feeling fresh and culturally resonant.

Technical Execution & Workflow Standards

Maintain rigorous project organization throughout every edit – clean bin and folder structure, consistent naming conventions, accurate media management, and orderly sequence organization – so that any team member can step into a project and understand it immediately.

Prepare and export all deliverables to the correct technical specification – codec, resolution, frame rate, aspect ratio, loudness, and platform‑specific encoding requirements – performing a final technical review before releasing any file to production or the client.

Contribute to and uphold the department's editorial SOPs and workflow documentation – including project setup templates, file organization standards, export specs, and handoff procedures for conform, audio prep, and finishing – helping build a department that runs cleanly and consistently at scale.

Actively look for opportunities to automate repetitive technical tasks – export batches, proxy generation, version naming, caption workflows – freeing up more time and creative energy for the work that requires genuine editorial judgement.

Prepare clean, complete handoff packages for downstream post departments – conform materials and EDLs for finishing, OMF/AAF audio exports for sound mix, and VFX pull lists for the CG or Flame team – ensuring every handoff is ready to use without requiring follow‑up from the receiving team.

Collaboration & Studio Citizenship

Work closely with creative directors, art directors, and producers throughout the edit process – participating actively in review sessions, addressing feedback accurately and efficiently, and communicating proactively on status, timing, and any creative or technical issues that arise.

Collaborate fluidly with the broader post team – motion designers, colorists, Flame artists, audio engineers, and photo retouchers – integrating their work into your timelines accurately and maintaining strong communication across all departments so nothing gets lost at the handoff.

Manage multiple concurrent projects without losing quality, pace, or communication – tracking your own workload, flagging scheduling risks early, and keeping producers and creative leads accurately informed on where each project stands.

Contribute to a positive, energized, and high‑functioning studio environment – bringing a calm, solutions‑oriented attitude into the room, supporting your fellow editors and post team members, and helping create a workspace where great creative work gets made.

Qualifications:
  • 3–5 years of experience editing at a commercial post facility, advertising agency, or in‑house creative studio – with a portfolio demonstrating strong creative and technical editorial work across commercial, digital, and social formats.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and/or Avid Media Composer – including multicam editorial, shared storage environments, project organization, and multi‑deliverable sequence management.
  • Working knowledge of the broader Adobe Creative Suite – including After Effects, Photoshop, and Auditionv– to support temp graphics, basic compositing, and audio fixes within an editorial context.
  • Strong understanding of media formats, codecs, and technical delivery requirements across broadcast, digital, and social platforms – including ProRes, DNxHD, H.264/H.265, loudness standards, and platform- specific aspect ratio and encoding specs.
  • Demonstrated experience editing for social media platforms – including TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube, Facebook, and Snapchat – with an understanding of what makes content land on each platform in terms of pacing, format, captioning, and viewer behavior.
  • Strong project organization and file management discipline – experienced with shared storage environments and capable of maintaining clean, well‑structured projects across multiple concurrent productions.
  • Creative and solutions‑oriented approach to problem‑solving – able to identify what a piece needs, propose a clear path to get there, and execute efficiently under deadline pressure without compromising quality.
  • Proficiency in production management and collaboration tools including Airtable, Microsoft Office [Excel, Word], Google Slides and PowerPoint, Slack, and Teams.
  • Minimum 5 years in editorial roles, with both post facility or agency and in‑house brand experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in DaVinci Resolve for editorial, color review, or delivery workflows.
  • Experience working closely with motion design and CG teams – familiar with how to cut to and integrate placeholder graphics, CG renders, and motion design elements effectively within a timeline.
  • Working knowledge of color science and color‑managed workflows – including log formats, LUT application, and setting up sequences correctly for a downstream color grade.
  • Experience in a marketing, retail, or e‑commerce environment, with an understanding of how editorial decisions connect to campaign objectives, brand standards, and legal compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with AI‑assisted editorial tools – including auto‑captioning, dialogue‑based search, AI‑powered rough cut generation, and smart reframe – and an interest in applying them to reduce prep time and expand creative capacity on high‑volume projects.
