Overview

In this role, you’ll focus primarily on post-production, helping edit video projects across internal initiatives and external client requests. You’ll collaborate with producers, directors, and project teams to shape raw footage into polished, engaging stories while gaining hands‑on experience in a professional communications environment.

You’ll have a supervisor guiding you every step of the way, offering mentorship and feedback as you build your editing skills, strengthen your creative judgment, and learn how video supports communications across the firm.

This position is based in Raleigh, NC, with flexibility for remote work during the academic year; candidates should be available to work in office when school schedules allow such as during summer break. This internship is expected to average approximately 10–25 hours per week during the academic year, with scheduling flexibility based on class schedules and project needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with video editing, post-production, quality review, and final deliverables.
• Organize project files, manage media assets, and support efficient editing workflows.
• Incorporate feedback from producers, directors, and supervisors during review cycles.
• Review edits for polish, accuracy, brand alignment, captions, audio levels, and export settings.
• Collaborate across departments to understand project goals and help shape clear, engaging stories.
• Attend project meetings and contribute ideas that support storytelling, pacing, and audience engagement.
• May occasionally assist with video shoots.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills:

• Experience editing video in Adobe Premiere Pro.
• Strong organization and file-management skills, including the ability to keep media assets and project files clearly structured.
• Basic knowledge of color correction, audio cleanup, and preparing polished video deliverables.
• Ability to follow creative direction, apply feedback, and revise edits with attention to detail.
• Comfort working with multidisciplinary teams and communicating clearly across projects.
• Creative problem-solving and adaptability on the fly.
• Interest in shaping stories through pacing, structure, music, sound, and visuals.
• Comfort occasionally supporting video shoots or production-related tasks when needed.
• Creative problem-solving and adaptability on the fly.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with video production equipment, including cameras, lighting, or audio.
• Experience with DaVinci Resolve, primarily for color grading.
• Interest in motion graphics, animation, visual effects, typography, or other visual design skills.
• Familiarity with Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Adobe Audition, or other creative software.
• Experience creating social media video edits.

Office hours are Monday–Thursday 7:30am–5:30pm and Friday 7:30am–11:30am.
