Job summary

The Oklahoman is seeking a dynamic Social Media Lead/Creator to expand reach and deepen audience engagement through compelling, platform-native video content across TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, and emerging channels.

You will lead creation of high-impact video and social content, collaborate with newsroom leadership, reporters, and visual teams, and translate journalism into engaging video storytelling that resonates with diverse audiences in Oklahoma.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or master's degree in communications, journalism, marketing or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proven experience producing video content for social platforms with a portfolio.
Deep understanding of video storytelling across TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, etc.

Responsibilities

Produce, shoot, and edit original video content tailored to social platforms (short-form vertical video, explainers, live streams).
Develop platform-specific content reflecting the publication's voice with emphasis on video-first storytelling.
Collaborate with reporters, editors, photographers, and videographers to translate news into engaging visual content.
Monitor analytics and adjust content strategy to grow audience engagement.
