Job summary

CGS is seeking a Victim Witness Assistant to join our legal team, supporting the mission of a large federal agency by aiding victims and witnesses throughout the legal process.

The role works with Victim Witness Coordinators and Specialists to relay case information, connect individuals with resources, and assist with court-related logistics while maintaining professional, compassionate service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field; trauma-informed training preferred.
• Minimum two years in victim services or criminal justice.
• Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with federal, state, and local entities.
• Strong multitasking ability and ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Assist Victim Witness Coordinator and Specialists with court event logistics and witness preparation, including notifying employers and providing resources.
• Provide information to victims on schedule changes, defendant pleas, and incarceration details.
• Orient victims on the Crime Victim Compensation Program and eligibility.
• Respond to victim inquiries with initial screening and connect to community services based on needs.
