The role focuses on assisting crime victims and coordinating with prosecutors, law enforcement, and social service providers to facilitate testimony and access resources. Responsibilities include in-court support, safety planning, and community outreach to inform victims about the justice process and restitution options.

Responsibilities

• Assesses victims’ immediate need for assistance and provides referrals to crime victims and their families, including crisis resources, medical access, legal rights information, emergency housing, employment, and transportation assistance.
• Assists AUSAs in locating victims and assessing testimony readiness; coordinates with attorneys, schedules meetings, and helps prepare victims for court appearances.
• Provides in-court support to victims, including courtroom orientation, facilitating consultations with AUSAs, and safety planning.
• Informs victims of their rights under federal law and how to exercise them throughout the prosecution; informs about case events and restitution options.
• Develops victim-centered responses in mass casualty, death penalty, human trafficking, and other complex cases.
• Collaborates with law enforcement personnel, federal investigators, and social service providers to increase available resources.
• Coordinates with agencies to establish comprehensive assistance plans and shares information on new programs.
• Conducts victim assistance workshops, develops outreach materials, and publicizes federal victim assistance efforts.
