Vice President, Research & Development - Healthcare

Position Overview

This remote role requires leading our enterprise EHR system through ongoing technology transition and stabilization towards future growth. We seek a dynamic leader with a proven track record in healthcare IT, especially in managing large-scale software projects and transforming legacy systems into cloud-based solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage complex development projects with geographically dispersed teams.
• Drive architectural transition from monolithic legacy systems to cloud-based SaaS models.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including engineering, UI/UX, solutions, hosting, and client-facing teams.
• Maintain dialogue with stakeholders, integrating feedback into engineering strategies.
• Foster an innovative, inclusive, high-performance culture within R&D.
• Mentor and coach directors and managers within the organization.
• Manage departmental expenses and forecasts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.

Experience

• Leadership experience in healthcare IT, with emphasis on EHR systems.
• Proven ability to manage and transform monolithic systems to cloud-based architectures.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or other cloud platforms.
• Knowledge of SQL Server.
• Familiarity with Agile, DevOps, CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience managing large, dispersed teams.
• Excellent communication skills and understanding of healthcare standards like HIPAA and HL7.
• Vendor management and negotiation skills.
• Resilience and problem-solving capabilities.

Additional Details

• Travel: Minimal, primarily internal conferences; client site visits are infrequent.
