Vice President, Research & Development - Healthcare

Position Overview

This Vice President, Research & Development will lead our enterprise EHR system through an ongoing technology transition and stabilization towards future growth. We are an established enterprise-grade Electronic Health Records (EHR) company seeking a dynamic and experienced leader with a proven track record in healthcare IT, especially in managing large-scale software projects and transforming legacy systems into modern cloud-based solutions.

Responsibilities

1. Lead and manage large, complex development projects across geographically dispersed teams.
2. Drive the architectural transition from legacy monolithic systems to cloud-based SaaS models.
3. Collaborate with stakeholders including engineering consultants, UI/UX teams, solutions teams, hosting teams, and clients.
4. Engage in ongoing communication with stakeholders to incorporate feedback into the engineering vision.
5. Foster an innovative, inclusive, and high-performance culture within the R&D organization.
6. Mentor and coach directors and managers within the R&D team.
7. Manage departmental expenses and forecasts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Proven leadership in healthcare IT, especially with EHR systems.
• Extensive experience transitioning monolithic systems to cloud architectures.
• Proficiency with AWS, Azure, or other cloud platforms.
• Knowledge of SQL Server and modern development methodologies like Agile and DevOps.
• Experience managing large, distributed teams.
• Strong communication skills and understanding of healthcare standards such as HIPAA, HL7.
• Ability to manage vendor relationships and negotiate outsourcing agreements.
• Resilience and problem-solving capabilities.
