Job description

The client is seeking a Vice President, Operations to serve as a senior operational leader for an immediate, full-time on-site role in Chicago, Illinois. This position is responsible for day-to-day hospital performance, integration, and efficiency, partnering with executive leadership, clinical leaders, and department heads to ensure high-quality patient care, operational excellence, and strong financial performance.

The Vice President, Operations will lead core hospital functions across clinical and non-clinical areas, driving operational improvements, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include overseeing operational performance and key metrics such as patient throughput, length of stay, capacity management, and patient experience, as well as partnering on strategic initiatives, budgets, and resource allocation, monitoring financial performance, and implementing cost-effective practices while maintaining quality.

In addition, the role will champion patient safety and quality improvement, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and hospital policies, and support team leadership through mentoring, coaching, hiring oversight, performance management, and succession planning. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree with a master’s degree preferred, along with 7+ years of progressive healthcare operations leadership experience in an acute care setting, demonstrated oversight of multiple departments or service lines with operational and financial accountability, strong knowledge of hospital operations and performance improvement, and the ability to lead teams and drive change in fast-paced environments.
