The Opportunity
- Seeking a VP of Operations to scale 25% growth across Mid-Atlantic
- High-impact role blending people development, performance management, process improvement, and hands-on operations
- Will partner closely with leadership teams to drive operational excellence, profitable growth, accountability, and org development
- Ideal candidate: proven leader who can establish operating discipline, solve complex problems, and drive measurable results
Ideal Candidate
- Strong preference for former military officer with successful private-sector experience in bluee -collar services or manufacturing
- Or non-military with 5-7 years of P&L ownership in blue- collar services or manufacturing
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Lead and oversee operations across the operating company
- Partner with President to execute strategic priorities
- Establish operating rhythms, accountability systems, and performance expectations
- Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, productivity, customer service, profitability
- Identify challenges and develop scalable solutions
- Ensure consistent standards while preserving each business's unique culture
- Coach and mentor operating company leadership teams
- Build a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Identify and develop high-potential employees / future leaders
- Support org structure and talent planning for growth
- Lead by example with a strong on-site presence
Financial & Business Performance
- Monitor and improve key operational / financial KPIs
- Partner with finance on budgeting, forecasting, and P&L performance management
- Identify & execute margin, productivity, and labor utilization opportunities
- Translate operational performance into measurable financial results
- Support revenue growth and expansion initiatives
- Evaluate technology / systems / processes for efficiency and scalability
- Support acquisition integration as Meridian grows
- Develop scalable processes for future Meridian businesses
Qualifications
- Military officer experience with 2+ years private-sector operations experience in blue-collar services or manufacturing; OR
- 5-7 years’ experience with P&L ownership in blue-collar services or manufacturing
- Proven translation of military skills into commercial business leadership
- Experience leading teams and managing complex operations
- Track record of improving operational performance
- Industry background in field / fleet / industrial services, transportation, logistics, manufacturing, or facilities services preferred
- Excellent communication skills; high integrity and accountability
- Comfortable in a hands-on, entrepreneurial environment
