Job Description

Sugar Mountain is a creative, family-owned food company that is home to extraordinary brands like Beecher’s Handmade Cheese, Mishima Reserve, and The Butcher’s Table. We’re passionate about making real food with absolutely zero artificial ingredients. We’re a team at the forefront of the food revolution, committed to our mission to Change the Way America Eats. For 9 years now, we’ve been recognized as a Great Place to Work, and we’re proud of the value-driven, mission-forward culture that fuels our growth.

We're looking for a Vice President of Technology who sees technology as a competitive advantage, not a support function. This role sits at the center of some of the company's most important initiatives, including ERP transformation, AI-powered operational tools, livestock technology integration, and the modernization of how our businesses operate.

This is a strategic executive role based in Seattle, working directly with the CEO and senior leadership team to shape and execute the company's technology strategy.

What You'll Own
  • Technology Strategy & Transformation
  • Develop and execute the technology roadmap that supports growth across manufacturing, retail, hospitality, and livestock operations.
  • Partner with executive leadership to prioritize technology investments and business transformation initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to create competitive advantages through technology, data, and AI.
  • Enterprise Systems & Architecture
  • Set direction for major business systems initiatives, including the future of the ERP platform, and own the business case and sequencing.
  • Set strategy and governance for core business applications and ensure delivery through the IT leadership team.
  • Evaluate emerging technology and decide what we adopt.
  • Data & Integration
  • Own the data architecture that connects production, financial, operational, and customer systems across every operating company.
  • Ensure data flows cleanly between platforms, and that reporting draws from a source the business trusts.
  • Champion AI and automation where they improve workflows and decision-making
  • Set data governance standards as the business grows more dependent on integrated data and AI.
  • Infrastructure, Security & Risk
  • Oversee infrastructure, cybersecurity, data governance, and business continuity.
  • Ensure systems are secure, reliable, scalable, and compliant.
  • Leadership & Execution
  • Build and lead a high-performing technology organization, including evaluating team structure and future talent needs.
  • Establish a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and practical problem-solving.
  • Lead major technology initiatives and hold internal teams and external partners accountable for results.
What We're Looking For
  • 10-15 years of technology leadership experience, with significant experience in food manufacturing, consumer packaged goods, or multi-unit hospitality environments
  • Proven experience leading at least one full ERP implementation or migration as the internal business owner
  • Demonstrated success building, deploying, or overseeing AI and machine learning solutions operating in production environments
  • Deep technical expertise with enterprise applications, integrations, data architecture, and system design
  • Ability to independently evaluate architecture decisions, challenge vendors, and provide technical leadership at both strategic and tactical levels
  • Strong operational mindset with a focus on business outcomes and execution
  • Experience operating effectively in a fast-paced, founder-led organization
  • Seattle-based or willing to relocate
  • Ability to work on-site five days per week from our South Lake Union home office
Compensation & Benefits

The starting salary range for this position is between $220,000 to $280,000 per year, plus an annual bonus plan. Actual compensation will be determined by skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

  • We offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, 15 days of paid time off, 9 paid holidays, and a 401(k) plan with a company match.
  • Employees also enjoy a 35% discount at Sugar Mountain locations.
