Job summary

IsoTalent is representing a client in Utah County, UT seeking a hands-on VP of Engineering to rebuild and grow a software platform team. You will own technical strategy, architecture, and delivery while leading .NET modernization with a TypeScript, Python, and React stack.

You will recruit and mentor engineers toward fast, high-quality delivery, sit on the leadership team, and guide the team's use of AI development tools in a hybrid, full-time role.

Job description

Our client is hiring a hands-on VP of Engineering in Utah County, UT to rebuild and grow the team behind their software platform. You will set the technical bar by writing code and designing systems, not only by managing people.

The role

You will own technical strategy, architecture, and delivery. You will lead .NET modernization alongside a TypeScript, Python, and React stack, and you will make the key build-vs-buy and vendor decisions. The role is hybrid and full-time, with three days a week in the office.

The team and the impact

The team is small today. The plan is to grow it toward 15-20 engineers. You will recruit those engineers, ideally from your own Utah network, and mentor them toward fast, high-quality delivery.

You will sit on the leadership team and work in person with other company leaders. You will also lead the team's use of AI development tools.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in software engineering, including 5+ leading teams, preferably in B2B SaaS
• Currently hands-on, and ready to pass a coding assessment and a system design assessment
• Experience leading roughly 10-25 engineers (Directors and Senior Directors ready to step up are encouraged to apply)
• Deep TypeScript, Python, React, and SQL experience
• A record of modernizing established platforms while still shipping, and of building teams from a small base
• Security experience with sensitive or financial data
• Based in Utah, with a local tech network

Pay and benefits

$225,000-$275,000 base per year, a 25% target annual bonus, and equity. Health insurance is 100% employer-paid for you and your family. Dental, vision, life, disability, a 401(k) match, paid holidays, and PTO are included.
