Opportunity Description

Our client is seeking a visionary and strategic Vice President of Human Resources to lead the company’s HR function during a period of growth and transformation. This high-impact leadership position requires deep expertise in restaurant, retail, or hospitality environments, and offers the opportunity to shape organizational culture, talent strategies, and operational excellence across a dynamic, multi-location business.

As a key member of the executive leadership team, the VP of HR will serve as a cultural ambassador and visible leader, embodying and promoting the company’s Core Values: Integrity, Family Hospitality, Passion, Innovation, and Success. The role involves regular visits to restaurant locations and close partnership with both operations and executive teams.

This role is fully onsite for the first six months and is open only to candidates who are already based in the Morristown, NJ area.

Job Duties

  • Collaborate with the executive team to align HR strategy with business goals.
  • Lead and mentor the HR and Operations teams to ensure effective, scalable processes.

Talent Acquisition & Development

  • Drive talent acquisition, employee development, succession planning, and leadership training initiatives.
  • Foster a pipeline of future leaders through targeted engagement and growth programs.

Employee Engagement & Culture

  • Champion a high-performance, inclusive workplace culture--.
  • Lead internal communications, employee training, and engagement efforts.
  • Promote initiatives that support employee well-being, satisfaction, and retention.

Labor Relations

  • Lead union strategy, negotiations, and compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Work closely with legal counsel on employment matters including claims, investigations, and policy compliance.

Compensation, Benefits & Compliance

  • Oversee competitive compensation, benefits, workers’ compensation, and insurance programs.
  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Develop and manage total rewards strategies to retain top talent.

HR Operations & Analytics

  • Optimize HR systems, policies, and analytics to drive informed decision-making.
  • Monitor key HR metrics to measure effectiveness and support strategic planning.

Experience & Skills Required

  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
  • Industry background in restaurant, retail, or hospitality is required.
  • Proven success in unionized environments and collective bargaining.
  • Strong knowledge of labor law, talent management, compensation, and employee relations.
  • Ability to lead in a fast-paced, multi-location, high-volume environment.
  • Outstanding communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
