Job summary

HKEX (U.S.) LLC, a subsidiary of HKEX, seeks a senior professional to lead business development with institutional capital and intermediaries in North America. The role focuses on originating, advancing, and closing opportunities to expand market share, while aligning with Asia and Europe teams.

The candidate will manage relationships with asset owners, managers, hedge funds, and senior trading desks, traveling across North America and possibly to Hong Kong.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related disciplines.
  • 10–12 years of senior, client‑facing experience in institutional sales, hedge fund sales, electronic trading, listed derivatives, QIS, or delta one sales or inter‑dealer brokerage roles.
  • Established relationships with asset owners, asset managers, hedge funds, trading desks, and relevant senior investment teams and trading.
  • Strong understanding of global and Asia equity and derivatives markets, including Hong Kong and China, and familiarity with cross‑border market access frameworks such as Stock Connect, ETF Connect, and Bond Connect.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to educate, influence, and present credibly to large audiences and C‑suite stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with strong problem‑solving skills and a solutions‑oriented, consultative sales mindset.
  • High level of professionalism, attention to detail, and accountability.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, Bloomberg, and CRM systems.
  • Commercially driven, collaborative, and highly self‑motivated.

Responsibilities

  • Originate, develop, and grow new and existing client relationships.
  • Design and execute targeted client engagement strategies and campaigns that drive awareness, education, and sustained adoption of HKEX markets, products, and services.
  • Build and expand coverage of institutional buy‑side and sell‑side segments.
  • Translate education‑led engagement into outcomes such as market participation, connectivity, listings, index usage, derivatives adoption, and new product ideas.
  • Participate in and speak at HKEX and non‑HKEX events, and drive client engagement through roundtables and conferences.
  • Develop North America‑focused marketing content, ensuring regulatory compliance and alignment with HKEX’s global messaging.
  • Capture and communicate client feedback and market insights to internal stakeholders for product development and planning.
  • Apply professional sales and relationship management discipline with timely follow‑ups, CRM documentation, and pipeline tracking.
  • Travel within North America, and potentially to Hong Kong on occasion.

The Role:

The role will focus on business development across institutional capital and intermediaries that expands market share, increases awareness and adoption of HKEX offerings, and deepens client relationships. The successful candidate will originate, advance and close a pipeline of opportunities that support growth objectives, identify and communicate market trends, client needs, and product development opportunities that support longer-term platform growth. Working closely with colleagues in Asia and Europe, the role partners with internal stakeholders to stay on top of HKEX developments and priorities while delivering a coordinated, best‑in‑class client engagement in North America, positioning HKEX as a trusted partner to clients’ long‑term success. Given time zone differences to Asia, the successful candidate will be a self‑starter, strong communicator and able to act as a subject matter expert within the region and client base.

Role & Responsibilities:
  • Originate, develop, and grow new and existing client relationships that support business and growth objectives.

  • U.S. and Canadian insurance companies and pension funds
  • Asset owners, asset managers, long‑only and hedge funds
  • Senior leadership and sales, trading, and structuring teams within defined global and investment banks.
  • Translate education‑led engagement into outcomes such as market participation, connectivity, listings, index usage, derivatives adoption, and new product ideas that expand addressable market and long‑term growth.
  • Participate in and speak at HKEX and non-HKEX events, and drive client engagement through roundtables, industry conferences, and other forums.
  • Develop North America‑focused marketing content, ensuring relevance, regulatory compliance, and alignment with HKEX’s global messaging and standards.
  • Capture and communicate client feedback and market insights to internal stakeholders, contributing to product development and strategic planning.
  • Apply professional sales and relationship‑management discipline, including timely follow‑ups, CRM documentation, pipeline tracking, and collaboration with internal partners.
  • Participate in regular coordination calls with Asia‑and Europe‑based colleagues, including outside normal business hours.
  • Travel within North America, and potentially to Hong Kong on occasion.
