Vice President for Enrollment Management

POSITION DETAILS

Brooklyn College of the City University of New York (CUNY), invites applications for the position of Vice President for Enrollment Management.

Reporting to the President, the Vice President for Enrollment Management (VPEM) at Brooklyn College provides senior leadership and oversight for a comprehensive enrollment management, retention strategy, and academic momentum leadership that is aggressive, responsive to new trends and markets to support student persistence and completion, and consistent with the goals, mission, and resources of the college and the university. The position sits on the president's cabinet and is a member of the college's senior leadership team.

The VPEM serves as the institution’s Chief Enrollment Officer, providing strategic, data-informed, and mission-aligned leadership for across the full enrollment lifecycle – from recruitment and admissions through matriculation and early persistence. The VPEM is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously refining a comprehensive Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) strategy that supports institutional access, enrollment, student success, academic priorities, and long-term financial sustainability.

As a visible and collaborative campus leader, the VPEM partners closely with Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Student Success, Marketing and Communication, Information Technology, and Finance and Administration to align enrollment goals with program demand, student support structures, and market positioning.

The VPEM, has a wide range of responsibilities involving enrollment management, and implementing campus-wide actions and initiatives to advance enrollment, including supervision of the following offices: Recruitment, Undergraduate, Graduate, and International Admissions, the Registrar’s office, Student Testing, Enrollment Services Center, International Student Services, and Transfer Student Services.

The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive Strategic Enrollment plan with clearly defined goals, metrics, and accountability structures. Align all strategies with the institution’s academic mission and long-term financial planning.

  • Provide executive oversight of all enrollment management and student support functions of the College that support recruitment, admissions, enrollment, and retention, towards persistence and degree completion. Develops, plans, implements and administers programs and services as well as establishing policies and procedures necessary to support the College’s departments, staff and students.

  • Collaborate with Student Affairs and Student Success leaders to strengthen applicant to enrollee transitions and support early persistence initiatives.

  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate senior enrollment leaders and teams across multiple functions units and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the Enrollment Management division.

  • Collaborate with the Sr. V.P. of Finance and Administration and the Office of Institutional Research and Planning on predictive analytics to assure there are sufficient course offerings to support Academic Momentum initiatives.

  • Develop and implement a plan for the recruitment and retention of international students.

  • Champion a data-driven enrollment culture, using analytics, dashboards, and predictive modeling to guide outreach, and yield strategies. Provide strategic oversight of enrollment technology platforms (CRM, application systems, reporting tools), ensuring integration, usability, and continuous improvement.

  • Assess college-generated data regarding recruitment and enrollment as well as external information regarding enrollment trends and competitive market. Collaborate with the Sr. Vice President for Finance and Administrative to align recruitment and enrollment strategies with budgetary requirements.

  • Provide oversight and direction for on-campus and off campus admissions functions such as campus tours, visit days, guidance counselor workshops, and direct admissions events.

  • Lead a team that will guide all aspects of the institution’s enrollment, and establish, forecast, and achieve new undergraduate and graduate enrollment targets.

  • Work closely with Communications and Marketing to ensure a consistent branding for Brooklyn College for marketing and recruitment.

  • Be responsible for coordinating effective credit evaluation and support services for transfer students/ students in transition and coordinating efforts among administrative offices and academic departments to assist transfer students and integrate them more effectively into the college.

  • Oversee the Office of the Registrar and develop and implement effective processes to support students from enrollment through graduation, and assist faculty and the college community, including course and room scheduling, graduation audit, production of transcripts, and Degree Works self-advisement tool.

  • Oversee the Enrollment Services Center, the one-stop center for students and the college community, and the Call Center to assure optimal services are available and delivered effectively. Assess and explore effectiveness of services and integrate technology to streamline processes and assist students with overcoming obstacles to persistence.

  • Coordinate targeted, campus-wide efforts to develop strategies and support services to increase retention of first-time freshmen and transfer students, with a focus on the first and second years and identifying obstacles to persistence.

  • Direct and administer budget for Division of Enrollment Management.

  • Work closely and collaboratively with the Office of the Provost, the Vice President of Student Affairs, and appropriate faculty governance committees to ensure that services to students that support retention and graduation are carefully planned and implemented.

  • Serve on appropriate college committees and task forces.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.

  • Extensive senior level leadership experience in enrollment management, admissions, or related areas within higher education.

  • Demonstrated success developing and implementing institution wide strategic enrollment plans with measurable outcomes.

  • Proven ability to lead change, manage complex organizations, and collaborate effectively across divisions.

  • Doctorate in Education, Higher Education or similar area preferred

  • Enrollment management experience within CUNY or another large, complex public urban university system.

  • Knowledge of CUNY policies, systems, governance structures, and student populations, preferred

  • Experience with student information systems, customer relationship management platforms, enrollment technologies, and digital recruitment and communication tools.

  • Strong strategic planning, project management, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior leaders, faculty, staff, students, and external partners.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

$200,000 - $215,000; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
