Blackstone, Inc. in New York, NY, seeks a Vice President, Data Scientist to be responsible for specific data science initiatives launched within the firms real estate portfolio, including building machine learning models to analyze publicly available market data and internal data to detect price trends and inform business decisions. Work closely with companies within the Blackstone portfolio to understand their objectives and ensure that data science solutions are aligned. Involved in frequent brainstorming sessions, interviews with stakeholders, and knowledge-sharing about the data science models. Train machine-learning models and evaluate their results. Perform exploratory analysis of the data and examine different model architectures. Assess the models results and use this information to make improvements. Build reliable tools that can serve the needs of portfolio companies. Perform other duties as needed.
A minimum of a Bachelors degree (or foreign equivalent) in Data Analysis, Computational Analysis, Statistics, Economics, or a related field plus 3 years of experience in job offered or related occupations required. Also required: 3 years of experience in: building and evaluating quantitative and statistical models on financial and economic data; writing code in statistical software, e.g., Python, R, Stata, or SAS to analyze and visualize data; critically reviewing, fact-checking, and replicating technical analyses; drafting memoranda and reports in Microsoft Word to communicate the results of complex data analyses to stakeholders; and developing materials in Microsoft PowerPoint for internal and external audiences; managing projects, which includes defining timelines, delegating and tracking tasks among team members, communicating directly with external stakeholders, and collaborating with subject matter experts; and working with geospatial data in Python, R, or ArcGIS. Experience can be concurrent.
