As a Machine Learning Scientist, you'll tackle complex challenges, apply advanced methods to tasks like natural language processing, and work collaboratively with diverse teams. Passion for machine learning and strong analytical thinking are a must.

Role: Machine Learning Scientist - Natural Language Processing (NLP) - Vice President - Machine Learning Center of Excellence

Within the Machine Learning Center of Excellence, you will have the opportunity to apply sophisticated machine learning methods to a variety of complex tasks, collaborate with various teams to deploy solutions into production, and promote firm-wide initiatives. You will also have the chance to independently study, research, and experiment with new innovations in the field, transforming how the bank operates.

Job Responsibilities

1. Research and explore new machine learning methods through independent study, conferences, experimentation, and knowledge sharing.
2. Develop state-of-the-art machine learning models to solve real-world problems, including NLP, speech recognition, analytics, time-series predictions, or recommendation systems.
3. Collaborate with Business, Technology, Product Management, Legal, Compliance, Strategy, and Business Management teams to deploy solutions into production.
4. Drive firm-wide initiatives by developing large-scale frameworks to accelerate machine learning application across the business.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

1. PhD in a quantitative discipline or MS with at least three years of relevant experience.
2. Strong background in NLP or speech recognition, analytics, personalization/recommendation, and deep learning methods.
3. Experience with machine learning and deep learning toolkits (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, NumPy, Scikit-Learn, Pandas).
4. Ability to design experiments, evaluate model performance, and align with business goals.
5. Experience with big data, scalable training, and effective communication of technical concepts.
6. Scientific thinking, independence, and collaboration skills.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

1. Strong mathematics and statistics background, familiarity with financial services, and experience with continuous integration and unit testing.
2. Knowledge in search/ranking, Reinforcement Learning, or Meta Learning.
3. Experience with A/B testing, cloud deployment, and production-quality coding.
4. Published research in relevant areas.

Base salary for Palo Alto, CA and New York, NY ranges from $164,350 to $260,000 per year.
