Options Consulting Solutions is seeking a VP of Data Engineering based in Boston to lead hands-on technical work and strategic engineering leadership for investment data platforms. You will shape architecture, design decisions, and scalable production systems for complex analytics and data delivery.

The role requires 10+ years in data engineering with leadership experience, strong SQL/Python skills, and deep experience with Snowflake, DBT, and orchestration tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
• 10+ years of data engineering experience with at least 5 years in technical leadership.
• Experience in investment management, private equity or asset management preferred.
• Cloud data platforms design, build, and operate at scale with batch and near real-time processing.
• Proficiency with SQL, Python, Snowflake or equivalent, DBT, Dagster or Airflow, and Azure data tooling.

Our client is a global Private Equity firm based in Boston. The firm invests in all types of private equity funds, including venture capital and leveraged buyout funds in addition to directly in operating companies. The organization’s mission is to build technology that lets the firm systematize and scale its understanding of private markets and management of their funds. The Data Engineering team works alongside investors and quantitative researchers to innovate technology-driven investment processes; solve broad industry problems ranging from AI driven digitization of unstructured data to systematic monitoring of private equity portfolios.

• $245,000 - $275,000 base salary + up to 60% discretionary annual bonus

The Role

The VP, Data Engineering role will combine superior hands-on technical expertise with strategic engineering leadership to deliver complex, high-impact investment data and analytics systems into production. This position requires active technical engagement in architecture, design decisions, and critical problem-solving, while building an operating model that delivers consistently at scale.

• Team Building - Build, lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing engineering and product organization with strong ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Your Qualifications

• 10+ years' experience in data engineering with at least 5 years in a technical leadership role
• Bachelor or Masters Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
• Demonstrated work experience in the investment management, private equity or asset management industries
• Deep experience designing, building, and operating modern, cloud data platforms at scale, including batch and near real-time data processing
• Strong proficiency with SQL, Python, Snowflake or equivalent cloud warehouses, DBT, pipeline orchestration tools such as Dagster or Airflow, and Azure data tooling
• Expertise in data modeling, ETL/ELT frameworks, data quality, testing, observability, performance tuning, and cost optimization
• Proven track record leading data engineering teams, mentoring senior engineers, and delivering data/analytics-centric platforms end-to-end in production
