Job summary

Metro Credit Union is seeking an experienced Vice President, Controller to lead the accounting function and a team of eight professionals. You will ensure accurate financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, and provide meaningful insights to support executive and Board decisions.

You will partner with the CFO, auditors, regulators, and Board committees, guiding liquidity management, investments, and ALM while driving process improvements and responsible use of AI tools where appropriate.

Qualifications

• Significant accounting leadership experience within a financial institution.
• Strong knowledge of accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience leading and developing high-performing teams with strong analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to influence stakeholders and work with executive leadership.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA and/or master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

• Lead the accounting function, including a team of upwards of eight accounting professionals.
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, strength of internal controls, and delivery of meaningful financial insights that support executive and Board decision-making.
• Partner with the CFO, executive team, auditors, regulators, and Board committees on key financial matters.
• Support investment accounting, liquidity management, and asset-liability management activities.
• Drive continuous improvement of accounting systems, processes, and technology adoption, including responsible use of AI tools where appropriate.

The base salary range for this position is $180,000 to $225,000, plus additional benefits and bonus potential. Compensation is determined by a variety of factors, including role scope, responsibilities, experience, and internal equity.
