Job Summary
The Vice President of Business Development will be responsible for driving strategic growth including identifying new business opportunities, cultivating high-value client relationships, and market expansion. The ideal candidate is a seasoned leader with a proven track record in healthcare staffing, government contracting, proposal management and building partnerships that drive revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Growth Planning : Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to achieve revenue targets and expand market share within the Defense Health Agency (DHA), Department of Defense (DoD), Veterans Affairs, F ederal and state sectors.
- Pricing Strategy Development : Oversee the process to create competitive pricing models that balance competitiveness, profitability, and compliance with federal, state, and commercial contract requirements.
- Proposal Development : Oversee the creation of compelling proposals, RFPs, and bids, ensuring alignment with client needs and Matrix Providers’ capabilities.
- Market Intelligence : Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to inform pricing decisions and position Matrix Providers as a market leader.
- Market Expansion : Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including geographic expansion, new service lines, and emerging healthcare staffing trends.
- Team Leadership : Lead, mentor, and grow a business development team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and results-driven performance.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with program management, operations, recruiting, and finance teams to ensure seamless delivery of staffing solutions and alignment with business goals.
- Performance Metrics: Establish and track KPIs to measure the success of business development initiatives, reporting progress to the President and executive team.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in business development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within healthcare staffing or a related industry.
- Proven success in securing large-scale contracts in the federal and/or commercial healthcare sectors.
- Strong understanding of government contracting processes, GSA schedules, and VA/DoD procurement.
- Skills:
- Exceptional relationship-building and negotiation skills with government stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate market insights into actionable growth plans.
- Strong leadership and team-building capabilities, with experience managing remote or distributed teams.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex solutions clearly.
- Proficiency in CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) and business development analytics.
