Job summary

Excela Protect is seeking a VP, Actuarial & Risk Management to build and scale the actuarial function within our specialty warranty and vehicle protection business. This hands-on leadership role reports to the President and combines executive oversight with direct analytical work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or related quantitative field.
• ACAS, ASA, or equivalent credential; FCAS or FSA preferred or in progress.
• Significant progressive actuarial leadership with enterprise pricing, reserving, and governance accountability.

Responsibilities

• Set enterprise actuarial strategy, pricing methodologies, reserve frameworks, and governance standards.
• Direct reserve adequacy reviews and oversee profitability, loss ratios, claim trends.
• Recommend risk appetite, performance thresholds, and corrective-action triggers.
• Lead actuarial due diligence on new clients, products, and partnerships.
• Collaborate with Underwriting, Finance, Product, Operations, Analytics, and bd on material decisions.
• Present findings to executive leadership and interact with auditors, clients, and stakeholders.
• Help plan forecasting and scenario analysis; contribute to captive structures as maturity grows.

Excela Protect is modernizing the F&I industry, bringing transparency, efficiency, and exceptional service to a space that's ready for change. As we grow, we're looking for a VP, Actuarial & Risk Management to build and scale the actuarial function within our specialty warranty and vehicle protection business.This is a hands-on leadership role reporting to the President. You'll start by combining executive-level leadership with direct analytical work, then define the team and resources needed as the function grows. You'll have independent authority over actuarial methods, assumptions, routine pricing and reserve recommendations, and the authority to pause and escalate decisions that create material risk.
