Job description

An Executive Opportunity to Build the Next Chapter of an Established Business

A well-established service organization with more than six decades of successful operations is conducting a confidential search for an accomplished executive to serve as Vice President of our Phoenix, Arizona operation.

This is a significant leadership position with responsibility for the growth, financial performance, operational execution, client strategy, and leadership development of the Arizona market. We are seeking an executive who understands how to build and scale a service business and not simply manage one.

The successful candidate will bring a combination of sales, business development leadership, operational sophistication, financial discipline, executive presence, and talent development. This individual will be expected to understand the market, identify where opportunities exist, build influential relationships, develop leaders, pursue strategic growth opportunities, and translate strategy into measurable business results.

We offer the stability, resources, and infrastructure that comes from more than 70 years of successful operations, combined with an opportunity for the right executive to significantly influence the future direction and expansion of the Arizona market.

The Mandate

The Vice President will have broad executive responsibility for Arizona and will be expected to establish and execute a comprehensive strategy for sustainable growth and market performance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for the Arizona market.
  • Assume responsibility for overall regional financial performance, including revenue, profitability, budgeting, forecasting, expense management, and resource allocation.
  • Develop and execute short- and long-term market strategies aligned with broader organizational objectives.
  • Establish measurable financial, operational, growth, client-retention, and leadership-development objectives.
  • Evaluate market opportunities and determine where the organization should invest resources to accelerate profitable growth.
  • Build, develop, and lead a high-performing regional management organization.
  • Establish clear expectations and accountability throughout the leadership team.
  • Develop leaders capable of assuming increasing levels of responsibility as the market grows.
  • Create succession plans and strengthen the overall regional talent pipeline.
  • Develop and maintain executive-level relationships with strategically important clients and decision-makers.
  • Serve as an executive sponsor for key accounts and high-value relationships.
  • Understand clients' businesses, objectives, and challenges and position the organization as a long-term strategic partner.
  • Develop proactive strategies to strengthen retention and expand existing relationships.
  • Identify and pursue strategically significant new-business opportunities.
  • Build relationships with senior decision-makers, prospective clients, business partners, and other market influencers.
  • Lead major business-development initiatives from opportunity identification through analysis, solution development, proposal, negotiation, close, and implementation.
  • Evaluate prospective opportunities based on revenue potential, profitability, strategic value, operational requirements, and long-term return.
  • Maintain executive oversight of the regional business-development pipeline.
  • Establish strategies for organic growth within existing accounts and new-client acquisition.
  • Monitor competitive activity, economic conditions, client trends, and other market dynamics that may create opportunities or risks.
  • Identify operational improvements that increase productivity, scalability, service quality, and profitability.
  • Ensure operational capabilities remain aligned with growth objectives.
  • Partner with senior corporate leaders and functional departments to execute major initiatives and support regional expansion.
  • Provide executive leadership with accurate forecasts, performance analyses, market intelligence, and strategic recommendations.
  • Represent the organization professionally with clients, prospects, business partners, and community stakeholders.

The Executive Profile

We are interested in accomplished leaders who have demonstrated the ability to develop new business, own a business, market, region, or substantial P&L and consistently improve its performance.

The strongest candidates will offer:

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience with significant responsibility for operations, business development, financial performance, and organizational leadership.
  • Senior leadership experience overseeing a region, market, division, business unit, or complex multi-location operation.
  • Demonstrated P&L ownership with strong financial and commercial acumen.
  • A measurable track record of increasing revenue, improving profitability, and growing market presence.
  • Demonstrated success acquiring new clients and expanding significant existing relationships.
  • Experience leading sophisticated business-development processes and complex negotiations.
  • Strong executive relationships and the ability to communicate credibly with senior decision-makers.
  • Proven ability to recruit, develop, mentor, and retain strong management teams.
  • Experience leading through other leaders rather than personally managing every aspect of execution.
  • Strong strategic-planning and market-analysis capabilities.
  • Experience evaluating business opportunities using financial, operational, competitive, and strategic criteria.
  • Executive-level communication, presentation, negotiation, and influencing abilities.
  • Strong understanding of CRM, pipeline management, forecasting, and modern business technology.
  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred; an advanced degree is a plus.

Experience within a specific industry is less important than demonstrated success leading and growing a complex, service-oriented business.

What Will Define Success

Success in this role will not be measured solely by maintaining existing operations.

The Vice President will be expected to:

  • Grow the Arizona business.
  • Increase market presence.
  • Strengthen profitability.
  • Build meaningful executive-level client relationships.
  • Protect and expand key accounts.
  • Create a disciplined pipeline of future opportunities.
  • Improve organizational capabilities as the market grows.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

There is a meaningful difference between joining an organization that is still trying to prove its business model and joining one that has been successful for more than 70 years.

This opportunity offers the foundation and resources of an established organization without limiting the successful candidate to maintaining what already exists. The mandate is to build upon that foundation.

For an executive who enjoys developing businesses, creating teams, building relationships, pursuing opportunities, and being directly accountable for financial results, the Arizona market represents an opportunity to make a substantial and visible impact.

Base Salary: $170,000–$190,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Additional details regarding the organization, executive benefits, reporting relationships, incentive opportunities, and the overall compensation package will be provided to qualified candidates as they advance through the confidential search process.
