Strategic Talent Partners is retained by a leading commercial electrical contractor to lead the search for their next Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The position is based at the company’s headquarters in Tempe, Arizona, and oversees all strategic, financial, and operational functions across multiple locations in the Southwest.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of senior leadership experience in construction or a related industry.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience with full P&L and balance sheet responsibility.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing strategic growth initiatives.
  • Strong financial and business acumen with a focus on profitability, cash flow, and sustainable growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop senior leaders.
  • Experience building diverse teams and creating effective cross-company collaboration.
  • Strong strategic planning and execution capabilities.
  • Keen analytical abilities and highly developed problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to build strong, mutually beneficial relationships internally and externally to create growth opportunities and achieve results.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and complex business environment
  • It is strongly preferred that the individual have:
  • Mergers and acquisitions (M&A) experience
  • Experience within an ESOP or employee-owned organization
  • An MBA or other advanced degree

Strategic Talent Partners has been retained by our client, a leading commercial electrical contractor providing electrical contracting and special systems services throughout the Southwest, to lead the search for their next Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Established more than 50 years ago, the company has built a strong reputation for customer service, reliability, quality, and cost effectiveness. Its services include commercial construction, tenant improvement, operations maintenance, and the design integration, installation, and maintenance of low-voltage systems such as fire alarm, security, and audio-visual solutions.

The company operates from multiple locations throughout Arizona, New Mexico, Idaho, and Utah, with its headquarters in Tempe, Arizona.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will be responsible for the overall leadership, strategy, and operations of the company, including all functional areas of the business.

The CEO will be accountable for driving profitable, sustainable growth while building long-term value for the company's employee owners. Working closely with the Board and senior leadership team, this executive will set the organization’s long-term direction and translate it into actionable growth, financial, operational, and organizational priorities.

The successful candidate will be a strategic and people-focused executive capable of leading a complex, multi-location organization, strengthening an employee-owned culture, developing senior leaders, managing risk, and cultivating relationships that create new business and strategic opportunities.

This position is based at the company's headquarters in Tempe, Arizona.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Partner with the Board of Directors and senior leadership team to develop the company's long-term vision and growth strategies.
  • Lead the execution of strategic growth and operational initiatives across the organization.
  • Ensure alignment and consistency in the execution of the company's mission, values, and client service principles.
  • Oversee major strategic initiatives, including new and alternative service offerings, overall business plans, and business development strategies.
  • Develop and implement strategies that support financial sustainability, strong cash flow, and profitability.
  • Maintain executive-level accountability for the company's financial performance.
  • Identify and execute opportunities that create profitable, sustainable growth and increase long-term value for employee owners.
  • Assess and manage organizational and business risks to protect the company's long-term interests.

Organizational & People Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and coach members of the senior leadership team.
  • Build organizational capabilities and continue developing a culture that grows skills and future leaders from within.
  • Foster collaboration and alignment across functions, business units, and geographic locations.
  • Build strong relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, open communication, sound decision-making, and results.

ESOP & Culture

  • Strengthen the company’s ESOP and employee-owned culture in coordination with the ESOP trustee(s).
  • Cultivate a strong and transparent relationship with employee owners.
  • Maintain open communication regarding financial and operational performance against established goals and objectives.
  • Make strategic decisions with the long-term interests of the company and its employee owners in mind

Business Development & External Relationships

  • Develop and enhance senior-level relationships throughout the industry.
  • Identify opportunities to create new client relationships, revenue growth, and strategic alliances.
  • Serve as a senior representative of the organization with customers, industry partners, and other key stakeholders.
Skills and Experience:

The successful candidate will be an accomplished senior executive with a demonstrated history of leadership and measurable business results within the construction industry or a related field.
