Job description

Overview of Purdue University Northwest

Purdue University Northwest (PNW) is a student-centered regional university within the Purdue University system, serving approximately 6,000 core students across undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs on campuses in Hammond and Westville, Indiana. With an annual budget of about $168 million, PNW relies on state appropriations, tuition revenue, and auxiliary enterprises and serves a diverse student population including first-generation students, working adults, and commuters. The university supports the economic and civic vitality of Northwest Indiana and the greater Chicagoland region through applied learning, industry engagement, and community partnership.

As the University’s chief financial and administrative officer, the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration (VCFA) will work closely with the Chancellor and form part of the senior leadership team. The VCFA will lead strategic and operational oversight of the University’s financial and administrative enterprise, ensuring fiscal integrity, strengthening resource allocation, and aligning financial planning with institutional priorities.

Overview of Vice Chancellor of Finance and Administration

The VCFA will lead finance and accounting, budgeting and multi‑year financial planning, procurement and business services, student accounts, auxiliary operations, facilities and campus planning, capital strategy, and public safety. The role requires navigating a multi‑entity financial structure and advancing the unique priorities of the Northwest campus while coordinating with Purdue University’s central finance leadership.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a record of strong fiscal stewardship—ensuring accurate, balanced financial operations and compliance. The VCFA will also be a forward‑looking, analytically driven leader who uses financial and institutional data to inform decision‑making, identify opportunities for strategic investment, and advance entrepreneurial initiatives that support long‑term financial sustainability and growth. Responsibilities include maximizing the value of physical and real‑estate assets, advancing auxiliary and enterprise operations, and developing alternative revenue streams and partnerships, including public‑private models.

This position offers an opportunity for a leader who can balance disciplined financial management with creative, data‑informed thinking, thereby strengthening the University’s financial foundation while positioning Purdue University Northwest for continued growth, innovation, and regional impact.

Purdue University Northwest is an equal opportunity/equal access university.
