Job description

I am reaching out to share an exceptional leadership opportunity within the Department of Dermatology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). We are seeking an accomplished physician-scientist to serve as our Vice Chair of Research, helping shape and advance the department’s research mission during a period of significant growth and momentum.

At UNMC, Nebraska’s only public academic health sciences center, faculty have the opportunity to work within a collaborative environment dedicated to advancing patient care, education, research, and community impact. Our academic culture encourages innovation and provides the infrastructure necessary to support transformative research programs and successful grant funding.

The UNMC Department of Dermatology is a rapidly growing academic department focused on nurturing an innovative, dynamic, and collegial environment where faculty can thrive. Our department is committed to excellence in clinical care, resident and medical student education, and impactful research. As Vice Chair of Research, you will have a unique opportunity to help define the department’s strategic research vision, mentor faculty investigators, expand collaborative initiatives, and strengthen our national reputation as a leader in dermatologic discovery.

Through our close partnership with Nebraska Medicine, the region’s premier academic health system, faculty have access to a large and diverse patient population, extensive clinical research opportunities, multidisciplinary collaborations, and state-of-the-art facilities. This integrated academic health system provides a strong foundation for translational, clinical, and outcomes-based research that can directly improve patient care.

Additional highlights include:

Strong institutional commitment to research growth and innovation.
Opportunities to build and lead multidisciplinary research programs.
Robust support for clinical, translational, and basic science investigations.
Access to advanced laboratory, molecular, and digital research resources across UNMC.
Collaboration with nationally recognized investigators throughout the academic medical center.
Engagement with medical students, residents, fellows, and junior faculty through mentorship and research training.

Beyond the professional opportunities, Omaha, Nebraska, offers an outstanding quality of life with a vibrant metropolitan area, affordable cost of living, excellent schools, outstanding cultural amenities, and a growing biomedical and innovation community.

If this opportunity aligns with your interests—or if you know of a colleague who may be interested—I would be delighted to connect and share additional information.
