Job summary

Form Energy is seeking a Test Engineer II to join the Test Engineering team in Berkeley, CA. You will develop and run vibration, shock, and seismic tests for battery modules and assemblies, and build robust testing fixtures and data pipelines.

You’ll collaborate across mechanical, structural, and packaging teams, instrument test articles, analyze data, and report results to drive design improvements and reliability in grid-scale energy storage systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering plus 3+ years of industry testing experience
• Experience with shaker systems and data acquisition hardware
• Proficient in Python or MATLAB for control and data processing
• Knowledge of MIL-STD-810 and test protocol development
• Hands-on lab experience; fixture fabrication and test setup

Responsibilities

• Develop, execute, and own vibration, shock, and seismic test campaigns for modules and assemblies.
• Design test fixtures and perform modal analysis to validate fixture performance.
• Collaborate with structural, packaging, and mechanical design engineers on test specifications.
• Instrument test articles with accelerometers and strain gauges; manage data acquisition systems.
• Analyze data, generate reports with pass/fail criteria and design recommendations.
• Support lab improvements and travel up to 20% to external test facilities.
