Job summary

Soliant Health in Riverside, CA is hiring a Teacher for the Visually Impaired to support students through a meaningful contract position. You will collaborate with classroom staff and families, deliver Braille instruction, orientation and mobility, and adapt materials with assistive technology and IEP planning to maximize accessibility and independence.

The successful candidate will hold VI certification and bring experience with K-12 settings.

Qualifications

• Valid teaching certification with specialization in Visual Impairment or comparable credential.
• Experience with visually impaired students in K-12 settings.
• Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional strategies.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Collaborative approach with classroom educators, families, and related specialists.

Responsibilities

• Assess student needs to determine the best accommodations and individualized instruction plans.
• Provide direct instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility, and use of assistive devices.
• Adapt classroom materials and instructional methods to optimize accessibility.
• Train and support faculty and staff on working with visually impaired students.
• Monitor student progress, prepare reports, and engage in IEP meetings.
• Foster an inclusive, encouraging classroom environment that supports growth and independence.
