Job summary

SJE Inc. in Detroit Lakes, MN is seeking a VFD Design & Support Engineer to design VFD control panels, support new product development, validate performance, and guide through product lifecycles.

You will create electrical schematics, select components, test in the engineering lab to UL 508A standards, and work with engineering, manufacturing, and customer support to deliver reliable solutions across water and wastewater industries.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent and 3–6 years of experience.
• Experience designing electrical control systems and VFD applications from scratch.
• Knowledge of motor controls and water pressure control systems plumbing.
• Familiarity with UL 508A standards.
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design specialized VFD control panels and develop control system designs.
• Support new product development and validate system performance.
• Provide technical guidance throughout the product lifecycle.
• Validate designs with hands-on testing in the engineering lab and ensure UL 508A compliance.
• Support field troubleshooting and production testing of VFD panels.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and customer support teams.
