Job summary

VEG ER for Pets in Massachusetts is seeking a skilled Sonographer to provide ultrasound support for VEG hospitals and training facilities, delivering same-day scans and training across locations. You will mentor VEGgies, coordinate education, and contribute to ultrasound curriculum development.

You’ll collaborate with emergency doctors, radiology education leaders, and teleconsultants to ensure top-quality imaging and teaching across home and regional hospitals while traveling to off-site

Qualifications

• Credentialed as a Veterinary Technician and/or diagnostic medical sonographer (RDMS) or equivalent.
• 3+ years veterinary ultrasound experience.
• Previous training experience and ability to teach clinicians and technicians.
• Comfortable mentoring others and giving/receiving feedback.
• Adaptability to changing environments.
• Excellent communicator with peers, customers, and VEGgies.
• Desire to grow as a sonographer through training and education.
• Willingness to travel to regional hospitals and off-site facilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform ultrasound studies and facilitate training at home and regional hospitals.
• Maintain relationships with teleconsultation radiologists (Antech, SonoPath, IDEXX, VetsChoice, etc.).
• Ensure training content aligns with VEG culture and up-to-date sonographic techniques.
• Track doctor and nursing team skills with the VEG Ultrasound Certificate checklist.
• Engage in program evaluation to improve VEG ultrasound training.
• Meet with medical directors and radiology education leaders to discuss objectives and needs.
• Meet with hospital manager and medical director to discuss new training protocols and schedules.
• Coordinate weekly floor shifts and dedicate time to training responsibilities.
• Assist in developing curriculum materials (PowerPoints, videos, simulations).
• Provide educational demonstrations on ultrasound topics across VEG facilities.
