About the Job

Days/Hours: Sunday, 6:00am to 4:30pm; Monday & Tuesday, 12:00pm to 10:30pm; Saturday, 6:00am to 4:30pm (40 hours a week)

Under the direction of a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, contributes to the health and well-being of patients by delivering high-quality veterinary technician services that meet MVMA, MAVT, and VMC standards and protocols.

Assists Clinicians and medical staff with veterinary procedures including specialty care, emergency care, surgical assisting, radiography, anesthesiology, laboratory procedures, administering treatments, animal nursing, restraint, handling, preventative care, and clinical research.

Essential Functions
  • Assists clients and patients with assessments, work-ups, discharges, and prepares patients for veterinary procedures.
  • Works under DVM oversight to apply clinical knowledge to diagnosis, treatment, and patient management.
  • Provides excellent service to DVMs and medical teams, facilitating communication and teamwork.
  • Handles and restrains animals as needed.
  • Performs treatments on wards and ICU, including IV therapies, sample collection, and biopsies.
  • Administers medications, vaccinations, and performs allergy testing as directed by clinicians.
  • Ensures clients understand home care instructions and performs record-keeping accurately.
  • Participates in on-call rotation and provides holiday coverage.
  • Maintains a clean and stocked hospital environment and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Graduate of Animal Health Technician or equivalent program, certified as MVMA/MAVT technician.

Preferred Qualifications: Problem-solving skills, interpersonal skills, knowledge of veterinary terminology, handling of animals, flexibility, proficiency with PC and software, and certification recognized in Minnesota.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $22.53 to $23.90, depending on experience. 75%-100% appointment. Benefits include competitive wages, paid holidays, professional development, health plans, retirement, and more.
